Last question - I promise!

Instead of spending money and wasting time waiting in a line to go up the Empire State Bldg or TOTR, we would prefer to spend our money on wine and enjoy the view from a bar on a high floor in a high rise building. (heck, we've been to the top of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, currently the tallest building in the world, so the Empire State Bldg just doesn't 'get it' for us.)

My goal is to get DH a view that really shows just how massive central Park is.

While we don't wear blue jeans or sweats, we aren't going to be wearing 'dress up' clothes either. So anyplace with a strict dress code isn't going to fly. Happy Hours get MUCHO bonus points. For those who don't remember, we are two seniors who will be staying in Turtle Bay - but clearly we will not find what I seek in that area.

Suggestions are very much appreciated.

Does it have to have a Central Park view?

Too bad there's no "Windows on the World" anymore. That place had the ultimate in panoramic views especially at night. Seating was tiered so everyone got to see through the big windows. The developers of "One World Trade Center" for some reason chose not to duplicate WOW.

Not necessarily. It's something we might do twice, but I would like one that includes CP.

It's kind of a tourist trap, and by that I mean it's expensive for what you get, but I enjoyed the experience. It is neat to revolve. The view is ever changing. I think it takes an hour to go completely around. My friend and I did the cheese and dessert buffet.

The Rainbow Room Bar & Grill used to require a jacket (before it was renovated). So I guess it is probably too fancy for the OP.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art has a rooftop terrace cafe, but I believe it is only open in the summer months.
