It is tough to find a job today. I understand H.R. to be especially tough. I am currently looking for a new position myself. I would recommend that you post your resume everywhere. Send it to recruiters and go on the websites of the companies that you are interested in.

You mean it's tough to find a good job today because most people are not in a rush to leave a good job. Like my current job is 9 to 5 with weekends off along with annual raises and health coverage. Those type of jobs are not easy to find because lots of people want to be off on the weekends.
I attended a lecture by a well known recruiter in Manhattan. It was about job searching. The recruiter said 85% of jobs are given to people the way you described pierre. That is why a lot of people with decent jobs dont know their asses from a hole in the ground.

Go to company's websites or your local state career center who has relationships with employers. Networking with old coworkers to find out about positions that are not posted.

Most career and job fairs are over by the time I'm out of work and I doubt they host any during the weekends.
