Yea good luck with that now with greedy landlords.

Family I understand but this is a case of the fema trying to make a deal with the city for housing and aid. The Puerto Ricans I know with family in the city already came up here before the hurricane.

Well, I suppose a few of the new residents may open bodegas to sell processed sugar/fat to their neighbors in exchange for EBT bucks... Sounds like a great system.
Just what we need. More obese NYC residents.

If you have to live with multiple roommates or family, then you cant afford to live in NYC.

Crime outside of a one year spike in homicides has actually gone down in pretty much every other category some Upstate cities that get refugees.

As a general statement, yes I know that Puerto Ricans are citizens. My point is more about resettlement, which has occurred in some cities further north in the state: Refugees weaving into upstate N.Y.'s changing economy | Innovation Trail

Also, there are also PR communities already established in many cities Upstate and may be places where PR’s may resettle in the state. Cities like Albany, Schenectady(has pretty big Guyanese population), Troy, Watertown and Rochester are cities and/or metros that have had recent growth are some places that could see some resettlement.

They are negotiating agreements with both states.
Stupid. They should take them to smaller towns.

On the other hand, why aren’t states like VA, NC, SC, GA and TN considered? I say this given their economies.
