La Bonne Soupe! I like that place. Delicious food, reasonable prices, nice ambience, polite service, a diverse crowd. My colleagues and I used to go there often after work and we were never disappointed. And I usually don't care for French cuisine. My fav is Italian and Mexican. But I liked La Bonne Soupe. Glad to hear they're still around. Another place I like (forget the name, Mon Petit?) is a tiny French bistro located near Bloomingdales. Don't know if that's still around but I used to go there a lot with my mom.
I was taken by a friend to La Bonne Soupe quite a few years ago and it was quite good.
when downtown, we usually meetup at troquet on grand(se corner lafayette) for a glass or two. ate there a few times and the food was excellent. nice casual joint.
I think i am going to go with La Bonne Soupe or should i go with nice matin?
No, go with La Bonne Soupe first. Nice-Matin is overpriced and overhyped. Am on the Upper West Side regularly and can confirm this. Have been eating at La Bonne Soupe *for years*.

Nice Matin is a fine brunch place but hardly the place else to begin learning about French dining. La Bonne Soupe is a cute, inexpensive little place, quite home and quaint. Neither tone is fine dining or really very representative of restaurants in France.
My former favorite is fleur de sel, but that’s unfortunately been closed for years now. It was fantastic, and while pricey, the dinners were worth it and the lunches were bargains. Now I’m curious if anyone on this forum knows where their chef Cyril is now since Bar Breton also closed a few years ago.
