What neighborhood is this? (intersection of Rockaway Blvd and Conduit Ave) (New York: houses, DMV)

I'm curious because my phone considers it "Jamaica" and so does wnaii.com

But this seems pretty far from Jamaica proper. And this is the only area my phone has did this for, everywhere else with a Jamaica, NY address shows up as the specific neighborhood, such as Springfield Gardens or Laurelton.

Edited to correct based on the specific point on the map. That is Springfield Gardens.

The entire area (including the airport) sometimes comes up as Jamaica.

Conduit and rockaway blvd where the burger king is located is considered Rochdale.

I figured it was either Springfield Gardens or South Ozone Park. The clientele at that Burger King seems a little more diverse (not talking about the people coming from the airport) than what I'm used to in Springfield Gardens, so that's part of why I thought it might have been South Ozone Park.

I wasn't sure if Rochdale was an entire neighborhood or just the towers, but I've been using it to refer to the towers and the immediate vicinity. But I wouldn't have guessed that BK was in Rochdale.

I wonder why that area comes up as Jamaica, but not the other places within the post office's "Jamaica, NY" designation. Is it too much of a grey area for mapmakers to make up their mind?

I consider it Springfield Gardens. Drive past here almost every day. In my mind that intersection registers are the same contiguous area as where the DMV on Rockaway is and all the warehouses/air port facilities are. I think of Rochdale as the most residential parts to slightly North East.

Border between Springfield Gardens and Rochdale seems about right. Btw historically for hundreds of years Springfield Gardens was a rural farming community called Springfield. The gardens was added by a suburban developer later on.

l1995, the reason that area says Jamaica is that the whole area used to be part of the Town (Township) of Jamaica which joined New York City in 1898. This was a large area, basically most of southern Queens, except for the Rockaways. Basically any Queens community that has a zip code beginning with 114 used to be part of Jamaica.

For instance, Woodhaven is 11421 while Richmond Hill is 11418 and Howard Beach is 11414.

Jamaica included Woodhaven, Ozone Park, Howard Beach, Richmond Hill, South Richmond Hill, South Ozone Park, Briarwood, Kew Gardens, Jamaica Center (obviously), Jamaica Estates, South Jamaica, St Albans, Locust Manor, Rochdale, Queens Village, Cambria Heights, Hollis, Springfield and Rosedale.

So if you live in St Albans (11412) or Rosedale (11422), sometimes you might get mail that is written as St Albans or Rosedale, but other times it might come in as Jamaica, NY.

I addressed the Jamaica, NY thing already. My phone's GPS recognizes every other Jamaica, NY neighborhood but not that area for some reason.

I work in one of those warehouses and for some reason it feels like a different neighborhood to me, maybe because of the demographics.

My phone did this again for the intersection of Merrick and Farmer's, definitely not Jamaica proper. St Albans I'm guessing?

I thought the Bronx was bad with ambiguities but it seems like Southeast Queens can also be like thay
