I have 2 gripes about this photo:

1. I do not like the plastic floor border on the wall. It should be a regular wood border..the plastic is super cheap and does not belong in this development. It can be replaced however.

2. The livingroom is tight, and the table to the right tells me there is no living space other than that small area. The small living room is also the dining room? Which no doubt is part of the kitchen? Alas, this is how all new construction is...the "open" kitchen/living/dining area is one small room and not sufficient for any of these purposes.

There is some cheap or rather different construction in my apartment that I am not too pleased about but who am I to complain..

I have an alley kitchen and that is why I have to put the table in that location.. No space anywhere else unless I want to use my built in desk thats is close to the door as my dining room table which is not ideal.. I believe the living room is 16x13 (I'm sure I am an inch or two off because I cannot really remember.) Small..?? (Not for me personally because I was living in a single room..) My father and uncle says its small like other new construction but once again, who am I to complain.. Actually moved my furniture around several times because my walls are slanted and that is also the only place Verizon would connect my cable..

I was told that many of the apartments do not have alley kitchens though. Do not know if that is a good thing or bad..

@seventhfloor- I wish I can put up pictures or paint or even put up curtains to pull the room together but that is not allowed unless the project manager approves it.. I put in a written request so hopefully hearing back from him soon..

Wait what? You cannot paint, hang pictures, or curtains without permission?

Yeah.. I'm sure people do it without permission but he stressed this to me when I was moving in. He also stressed a million and one reasons why people can be evicted but once I mentioned my background and he found out my father is a retired detective, he changed his tone quite a bit.. Guess they're just trying to protect their investment. That's fine.. I was one of the first to move in so maybe he didn't put in that much time with the late movers? Haven't seen him around lately so maybe someone else can share their experience.

In order to put up curtains or hang pictures (etc.), it requires drilling holes in the walls. It's probably different for the owners but from what I was told, everything has to have written persmission in order to make a "major change." I have a 2 year lease so requested that change the moment I moved in. No response as of yet..

lol Cute..

I've added a couple of more olders pics into my album that anyone can check out on my profile. The bedroom is the smaller of the two.. (Didn't add the larger room because my son's toys are everywhere..) And there is a picture of my entry way that includes the built in desk on the left along with three closets.

Off the forum for awhile since I am starting a new job Monday so decided to post my old pics and hopefully update in a couple of months.

Good luck to the owners and future renters that will be moving in soon and feel free to say hi if you see me in VV. I will be the female that "looks" 16 (close to twice that age though.. Don't worry..) with two active boys running around.

Toodles..

Icouncil all new bldgs managers say the same thing. I don't live too far from you in a bldg only 2 yrs old. They made such a big deal since it was a brand new construction! You can do whatever they just keep your deposit if apt is not left in original condition.
