Hi there,

The fluorescent lights in the kitchen of the apt make clicking noise after they're turned on for 15 mins. Does anyone know what this issue may be? I'm just not good at this kind of stuff and looking to hire an electrician to take a look at this issue. Do you have any suggestions on whom I can reach out to and request someone to take a look at this issue? apt is located in mid-town, nyc.

Thanks

Why do older fluorescent lights make a plinking noise when they are turned on?

(I assume you are talking about a circline light, aka THE LANDLORD'S HALO.)

It's the ballast. After the clicking, the light will develop a steady, REALLY annoying buzz.
Save the bulb and replace the fixture; better yet, get straight tube fluorescent fixture. Home Depot has a large selection to choose from,

For some reason the ballasts cost more than the whole light fixture.
