Watch this poor sap get swallowed up by the swamp monster that is NY politics, unions and the MTA. Who wants to bet all his enthusiasm now will be gone in about 6 months?
LOL @ ""The former CEO of the Toronto Transit Commission, who has never owned a car, rode into work just after 7 a.m. on a downtown 4 train from Grand Central. He said he plans to rely on subways and buses to get to work each day. ""
This dude will be riding the private car service in a week.
He did great work with TTC under some trying conditions such as the mayoralty of Rob Ford. Here's hoping him some luck and fortitude.
Agreed but good luck to him getting to his meetings on time. But then again it's his job to feel our pain so at least someone in the organization high up can see the bull**** first hand

Relatively small system, can't compare. They are setting him up for failure. System needs to be completely revamped to get rid of the extortionists and increase efficiency.

He started out in Transport for London / the London Underground which is a massive system.
Maybe they’re setting him up for failure. Hopefully he doesn’t fail whether or not that’s the case.
I wish him the best of luck and he does seem like a very competent person. However, like other posters have pointed out, the problems with the MTA are so stuck in a quagmire of impenetrable politics that I am skeptical he'll be able to make more than a small difference. I hope that I'm wrong.
