I applied for nycha while being in a Dv shelter. My case manager did the app for me and I was given N4 priority. She said to become N1 I had to provide the necessary docs. My priority was successfully changed. I did the interview on 2/27 and saw on 2/28 my status change to eligible to hold with a sub status of review for
Certification. I am certified for a 3 room. Before I chose BROOKLYN I was watching the application trends on the waiting list for my priority/room # and noticed they were close to Staten Island. Is it easier and quicker to get into Brooklyn? I noticed that the oldest certs didnít really match up over the quarters. Some years had younger certathan following years. Itís all quite confusing as tow they really tabulate everything.

I have not been to the apartment yet. Going next week. I have N1 priority (DV). It was fairly quick. My case manager at the shelter applied for me on 1/7 as N4 but once I brought my documents towards the end of January I as upgraded to N1. 2/27 is when I had my interview.

The interview was long. You have to answer a lot of questions about your background such as criminal, housing, citizenship, etc. itís nothing to be nervous about as long as you are truthful.

3/5 I was certified and 3/16 I was selected. They had a notice for me at 12 am the following day as to which housing I would be going to. Now I have to respond within 7 days of receiving the notice and if that isnít done my case becomes in active and the apartment is given to someone else. After 45 days if there is no response, the case is then closed. The housing I got accepted to is close to transport so itís good for me.

I will let you all know how the apartment looks and anything else with the process. Good luck everyone

I saw the apartment today. It is still so much work that needs to be done. They will contact me when it is finished. I accepted it and signed the lease. Now I have to get the housing voucher so they can send them the money and I move in once everything is completed. It wasnít that long of a wait. Almost 3 months.
