More money wasted by the MTA. Many of those nations are so close together and we survived without it for all these years, I feel the money could've been spent elsewhere. But then again MTA doesn't know how to spend money wisely so....

That station gives 1 train riders direct access to the WTC. It should have been reopened long ago.

Do you know or realize how close those stations are together? Cortlandt Station is in between Chambers St & W Broadway Station and Greenwich St & Rector Station. Between those its only .6 of a miles and with Cortlandt Station in the middle it means these station are only about a quarter of a mile apart. It someone can't walk .3 to get to there there need to consider their life.

Perhaps Cortlandt is needed for a sensible underground linking to the PATH train.
For even closer stations look at 28th, 23rd and 18th on the #1 train or 33rd, 28th and 23rd on the #6.
Those stations are all .25 mile apart.
The 6 train had a station on 18th Street. It slowed the trains down too much leaving Union Square so they closed it. The 1 train had a station on 91st street which was closed for similar reasons.
The 6 also had a station on the City Hall track loop close to the Brooklyn Bridge City Hall Street station. It too was closed for the same reasons.
