If they can get rid of the Meth heads, homeless and other junkies in front of the Metro-North station, and by Lex and 125th, THEN I'd know things were changing.
I hardly see them. Anymore. But I don’t go over there often. I saw on the news a few months ago that cops go by and clear them out every few days. Toss all their encampment stuff, etc. seems to be driving them away.
That location in Harlem (125th between Lenox and Fifth Ave) is fine. A few blocks over is a different story but it’s close enough to other retail that it’ll do fine.
Not that it matters, but Neil Patrick Harris lives directly around the corner. My point is that you generally don’t see a lot of nonsense in that specific intersection. I’m not a native NYer but I don’t really consider 125th and 5th “East Harlem”. I know that’s incorrect but that’s just the opinion of a transplant. It doesn’t feel sketchy to me until I hit Park.

The thing is 5th Avenue is neither East NOR West. You can consider it to be the dividing line between East and West, and not just in Harlem either. 5th is fairly tame anyway except for the area by the projects heading north.

agrees 5th ave is tame, although there be some
sketchy characters at the deli the powerball winner won at. I actually don’t like 131st and 5th, and yes there are a chock-full-o ratchet at Lincoln projects
Neil has his home lit with Christmas decor for the holidays. I’m sure he’ll indulge in the digs when they open

Park was once notorious for drugs. By geography dark and isolated areas draw the blight in our communities.
Notice how bad things usually happen at the darkest of hours and light of the moon rather than in broad daylight.
What are they putting in them chocolate yummy shakes ?
