In 2000, Manhattan Valley was like 70% non-white and 50% very-low-income. I'm sure those numbers have changed quite a bit since then, but the Douglass Houses mean that the area will always be pretty integrated. It's quite a different look from 20 blocks south.

If Upper West Side includes Manhattan Valley, then the neighborhood is very mixed.
In fact, Manhattan Valley is majority black from what I can see when I am there.

Like I already said.. we're not wanted anywhere. Being a Black man in America is to constantly live with that **** over your head.

For some of us, it's a crushing reality.. for others, we just brush the **** off. I'm of the latter ilk. Believe me, I've dealt with all sorts of **** in my life. I'm sure I'll have some blatant racism to deal with sometime in the near future too. **** doesn't really bother me, because it's not a real reflection of me.

96th to 110th between CPW and Broadway. Basically, the part of the UWS where Manhattan Ave runs.

Famous area known to make Central Park unsafe due to entry point for many black and hispanic assailants. People keep pretending black and hispanic don't disproportionately commit violent crime in NYC are delusional.

Am surprised you never heard of Manhattan Valley.

It is the west side equal (roughly) of East/Spanish Harlem (East 96th through about 125th).

Originally called "Bloomingdale" district like the east side "valley" comes from fact at 96th street the earth on both sides of Manhattan "drops" into a valley. Hence reason why Metro North and other trains are elevated above that line.

Is this an official name though? I think it's just lumped in with the Upper West Side.

I feel like Riverside Drive 72nd st to 106 st is pretty much vanilla skin color people. Some beige color folk too. All with old + new money.

Tiddays!
