There is a tiny little Korean area of the Bronx on 204th street, off of the Grand Concourse (in the Bedford Park neighborhood). There are a couple of Korean stores and a Korean restaurant there. Its only like 2-3 blocks, but there are Korean people and businesses there. Lots of Korean students go to Bronx Science, which is nearby, so I think that keeps some of the businesses afloat.
I lived in the area closer to the boulevard and Webster Ave. but this might be a good area for her. Not great, but reasonably priced, cool things like the zoo, botanical gardens, Lehman College, Fordham U, lots of shopping, & transport nearby. I liked it.

If you are ever in NYC, hit me up. I can show you the Bronx upside down and inside out to your heart's content. I live in the South Bronx and have lived in Bedford Park, washington Hts., Woodside, and Corona.

Yes, it opened recently. It is actually very nice. I suggest Pelham Bay to the OP. Their are many stores. Like another poster said their is no organic stores, but you will find that their are many nice supermarkets. I am sure you will be able to get a nice apartment for under $1200.

Oops mishap with my 1st post.

Like I was saying. The Bronx is not made of various or diverse ethnic groups. The majority of people living in the Bronx are of Black and Latino decent. I know this because I was born and raised in the Bronx and I've been to every neighborhood there is.

There are some ethnic neighborhoods known in the Bronx like you can find Italians in Little Italy or maybe in the Morris Park section. I notice a lot of Caribbean people live in the northern east part around the 230th st area. Riverdale is known to be a Jewish neighborhood. Overall, even if there are these so called ethnic communities, everyone is integrated. Like myself, I am probably one of the few Asians living in the South Bronx.

I have never seen an organic food store anywhere in the Bronx. You can travel to Manhattan or Westchester for that. There are a lot of fruit and vegetable stores, local supermarkets like Ctown or Key Food. The majority of restaurants are Chinese take-out, Jamaican, Spanish, and chains like McD's.

Where you should live.....I would suggest Bedford Park Blvd and Bainbridge Avenue. There is a Korean Christian Church nearby and I know you don't want to be with other Koreans but this neighborhood is not Korean-town ok. Last year I saw a small junior 1 bedroom for $600/mon at the Bainbridge and Bedford.

This place is ideal for you because it pretty much looks safe. It has high traffic. It close to both the number 4 and D train, walking distance. It is a few blocks from both Lehman College and Fordham University, walking distance. And if you don't like it, you can always move the next year. Hope my advice is helpful. NYC has alot to offer and you can always travel anywhere at ease as long as you have your metrocard! Good luck! U can email me if u have otehr questions. Annie1951@aol.com
