Good! None of that screwing around with optical scanners. That was just money thrown in the garbage.
Since these are a lot more adaptable than the current Metrocard system, then it's time to talk about transit fare restructuring. One, to up the rates for non-residents of the city or Tri-State Area and another to implement fare zones so that every form of transit including the commuter rail system which needs to be restructured, can be implemented (with NYC being a single fare zone for at least NYC residents).
Never the less it *IS* the Lexington Avenue subway, isn't it?
No its not called the lexington Ave subway its called either, the 4, 5, and 6 train. These trains stop at many more station besides Lexington Ave. If you look at maps of these stations it will say either Lexington local or express to let people know what stops it makes but it is not called the Lexington line technically. Yes many people in the city may call it the Lexington line but its is not.

This is going to throw a wrench into those plans for "discounted" metro cards for the *ahem* working poor. For that matter students, senior and those on welfare who also currently receive free or heavily subsidized metro cards will need to find another solution.
Guess the city could just create transit "debit cards" or something that can be used to pay transit fares. But that opens up a huge can of worms in regards to fraud, theft and so forth.

The MTA itself calls it the Lexington Avenue line.
