Default Bx/ Brklyn Areas

Hi. I'm a college kid that needs help with a couple of different areas that I'm looking into. If I stay at school in Long Island I'm looking into moving to Brooklyn or Queens. Brooklyn areas like Gravesend, Bensonhurst, maybe even furthur east on Kings Highway. I have friends at school that live in the worst of the worst and I hang out in their neighborhoods no problem. I've been around Bushwick and East New York. But you can get bargains without having to live in ****. Same deal with the Bronx. My friends from school live down by the Grand Concourse and 167. And Hunts Point. But the neighborhoods arent worth it. If I transfer schools I'm looking into the Bronx because Westchester is just to expensive. I'm originally from Morris Park Westchester Square area. But I;m looking into possibly even Bedford Park north of Fordham and Bedford Park Blvd and around Mosholu liek the last stop on the D 204th or 205th. And possibly back around Allerton, Williamsbridge Road, even Pelham Bay like around Buhre. I know Allerton is still pretty good. But it gets to be bad once you go past the El around Burke Ave. And I've seen people on here talking about Fordham-Bedford. Let me just say that Fordham is garbage. Its been bad and will always be bad. It doesnt have alotta abandoned buildings but its real old and dense. But I don't know about the West Bronx really at all. I know the East Bronx where I used to live is still real stable. And Brooklyn I'm still pretty new to. So anything you could tell me would be helpful.

I was in Bushwick over the weekend and it looks to be getting a lot better. I hope that area continues to be gentrified. By the way I thought it was always BKLYN.

Bushwick is currently gentrifying, but overall its still the hood.

From what people say here about ENY, its the worst hood in the city.

The Bedford area around Moshulo is not too bad. You can find a deal somwhere in the lower 200's. But make sure you visit the area because the area is changing.

Yeah, Fordham (Fordham-Bedford, Fordham) are really bad neighborhoods. So its funny how people here say there not. Fordham-Bedford doesn't have many abandoned buildings, and it never really suffered from the arson. It always looked the way it has. With many buildings and very dense. But dont tell people here its garbage, some people work in real estate and have no idea how life is like in the nabe.

The west Bronx (west of Jerome) is very dense aswell. Its mainly tenement buildings. Blocks after blocks of them. The west Bronx probably has the most rampant drug dealing in the borough (sans Fordham, Fordham Bedford and parts of Soundview). The west Bronx is covered by Operation impact due to its high crime nature. Bad neighborhoods, Highbridge, Morris Heights and University Heights. These neighborhoods are predominantly Dominican with a strong presence of Puerto Ricans and Blacks. The far northwest Bronx had some nice areas though.

The east Bronx is fine.

Northern Brooklyn is really bad. Avoid those areas.

yeh thats what i think to. the east bronx is pretty good, just as long as you stay below the gunhill road area and north of castle hill. but i dont know how bad castle hill even is. and bushwick isnt that bad. its alot worse in east new york and brownsville i think. does anyone know what the western part of gunhill road is like over by the hosiptal like around 206th i think.

Bay Ridge is nice and affordable. It is a mixed neighborhood but mostly Italian. Great restaurants and food. It is near Staten Island though. Do you have a car?

I love Bay Ridge. In my opinion it's one of the best areas in NYC.

Can we please keep Bay Ridge from being the next Park Slope.

I don't think Bay Ridge is goin to be the next Park Slope. The trains take to long to get to Manhattan. Maybe Astoria. But does anyone know about the western part of Gun Hill Road? And yes flappergirl I do drive. I'd be driving to LOng Island 3 days a week.

Becoming the next Park Slope isn't any thing bad in my eyes. I would like Bay Ridge to stay the same though because rent is fairly reasonable.
