The chicken really is that darn good. Between midwestern tourists and NYers with family down south there is a market for good homestyle American food.
Despite what many out of touch yuppies think, there is plenty of demand for chain restaurants from certain types of native New Yorkers. That's why places like Dallas BBQ do so well

That's because NYC was a desert for popular American chains for decades, except mass fast food places like McDonalds and KFC. Slowly that changed with entrants like Olive Garden and eventually Cheescake Factory and now Chik fila. Now you can find anything here and people who were denied for so long don't have to go upstate jersey or long island for it. Its a bizarre reverse from suburbanites sick of chains who want higher end restaurants like NYC traditionally has
Amazing how Chcik-Fil-A is vilified in the tolerant leftist community. When has someone ever been turned away or denied service at this restaurant? Phony ass snowflakes always gotta be professional victims.
Arguably the best customer service for a fast food joint.
But that’s the world we live in today. If you don’t agree that means you are against people which is unfair and immature!

That and the average low income New Yorker doesn't have the same thought process about food as yuppies
Every Chick-Fil-A stores in NYC have super long waiting lines even longer than Shake Shack. All they sell is chicken sandwich as the main entree. Why are they so damn popular here while places like Wendy's also has a good chicken sandwich doesn't have much fanfare.
CFA isn't new to the area, they've had many branches in NJ for years.
And they do great in NJ too:
Terrific food, much better that typical fast food, and with a lot of healthy and delicious options.
Very nice restaurants (spotless, well-kept, with things such as flowers in the table).
Well-mannered and nice employees.
So many national chains come to NYC but don’t live up to high standards in their locations elsewhere (e.g., the Panera in Fifth Avenue has atrocious customer service and bad food, and the Target in Marble Hill is horrid). Most of the Chick-fil-As around town are almost as good as they are in the South, which really surprises me. The one on Fulton Street and the one on 42nd Street are both fantastic.
