That's to be expected at a 45k per year private school in Manhattan. Segregating the kids in such a manner just seems wrong, and it will certainly be awkward if implemented. Maybe they should ask the kids what they want rather than forcing their SJW publicity stunt on them.

Yes to being very regressive, because this fits the definition of othering so called minority kids. I'm surprised parents are willing to even spend all this money to let their kids be treated this way. I'm also surprised the school was dumb enough to implement this. Think lawsuit.

It is widely known the majority of brown and black students at private school receive scholarship and financial aid so the majority of them are not paying full price (the families paying full price are subsidizing for carefully curated diversity). There is also studies that show a black students at a private school does worse academically than poor white and asian kids in public school, so private schools might be experimenting for ways to improve their performance.

If the students feel uncomfortable in that environment and it cannot be resolved by parent/meetings, then the parents might consider pulling their kids out of these schools.

Also if there are few white people on scholarship, and the scholarship programs are mostly or entirely for Blacks and Latinos (this I do not know, I do not have the data in front of me) then why are they are bothering to recruit for "diversity"? To get government money for something? To not look racist.

Wait what? In the other thread you were arguing exactly that... that schools should be recruiting based on skin color and not merit, and now you do a complete 180? What happened to your regressive racism? Changed your mind?

Its a private school. Private schools can separate. Public schools can not be separate and equal. If segregation by the choice of race and sex was to reappear on public school. Thier would he a huge media uproar.

I argued specialized public schools should not even exist and all public schools should have the same resources.

Re: the private school situation, I stand by the comments I just made concerning the stupidity of the program.

Sure. Yet we had a Black President for 8 years, we have more women in power more than ever, more minorities are graduating high school and college more than ever, everyone from around the globe has immigrated and been successful here. I can keep going.

This isn't a 'separate but equal' treatment - all kids go to the SAME school, and have access to same resources. The school gave a lucid, intelligent explanation for this program, and I do not at all falter them for trying a method that is supported by research. The research in essence supports a view that kids are strengthened if they can relate to each other in a group setting.

However in this highly charged political country (both in liberal and conservative circles) emotions and fears run high and the school has to back down, if for no other reason than appeasing parents who pay a hefty $45,000 tuition.

To me it seems like it's just gonna end up out-grouping those kids
