It's a public forum and this thread was active. Also, i live in NYC so this is my go to forum section. You just got to NYC so relax, homie! Are you still upset over the baby momma, charity, and tithe insult?

I never mentioned Whole Foods. I usually don't shop there. Sometimes, they have very good deals and items on sale.

You took it as an insult.

Everyone is giving you the same advise. Lower the $800 food bill. How is it 800 if you are not buying at wholefoods. Do you eat out 3x a day x 7 days a week?

I do... It's not hard to do either. I'm guessing you don't buy organic. For example, I like Bilinski's organic chicken sausage because they are skinless. In Whole Foods, they are $8.99 for 5 links. I haven't seen them anywhere cheaper. I also like to get things like organic fruit which can be expensive especially local items, so another $10 in fruit (let's say organic blueberries and some organic honey crisp apples). Then organic cereal and organic milk - $7.50 for that. Pastries and snacks... Another $10.00. Then frozen organic veggies and fresh veggies... $20.00 for that. Organic pastas and organic rices and other staples like polenta... Another $10 - 15 for that. Then sparkling water... I'll get three of those flavored at $1.99 each...

That's already almost $80.00. After that I'll pick up Method or Ecover dish detergent, Ecover fabric softener and other household items... Another $10 - 15 for that. $95.00 right there. Of course the list can change, but if you want quality things like great seafood, you will pay for it, and it's definitely worth it. I'm also leaving out things that I splurge on like organic french fries, olive oil and other condiments that you would get. I don't see it as expensive either. I load up on veggies. I usually buy several bags of the 365 organic brand of things like corn, green peas, and fresh veggies... Organic maitake mushrooms, basil, cherry tomatoes. That stuff is fantasic in season and I make my own meals with it. I also cook with things like pesto which can be pricey. I use a lot of it for pasta or other veggies dishes that I make.

Oh Gosh! the freaking $800 was an rough estimate. It doesn't mean that I pay $800 on grocery. It might include occasional trips to Starbucks, vitamins and supplements that I need, sometimes I would like to go to the framer markets to buy some fresh fruit, it also could include entertainment in general. Of course, this can be adjusted because I don't do much during the week. In general, I usually leave room in my budget for unexpected purchases but I end up not using up all the money.
