Meanwhile, De Blasio is noticeably absent from all this. I thought a mayor is suppose to be the face of a city in situations like this.

Deblasio will only show up where he can buy votes and support to keep his corruption going. He's harboring illegals in the city so they can illegally vote and keep him in power. I would never live in NYC again because your paycheck is funding all of the social freebies he offers to illegals so they can keep him in power. Free lunch on behalf of the taxpayers.

The Feds shouldn't be paying for Con Ed's private and outdated steam system. They should really shut it down by a certain date, and tell their customers to move to natgas.

ConEd hasn't signed up a new steam customer in decades. In fact the opposite is happening, many buildings that once used district steam are installing their own boilers/HVAC systems.

However this is not always possible nor is natural gas an answer.

Many hospitals below 96th street use ConEd steam for autoclaves and other purposes.

It was more than just a leak. If I saw that, I'd run a block away and then mention it to a couple people. It doesn't surprise me that people acted oblivious to the stream but I would react to it as a bigger danger.

In the video there is a women (dressed in all black) casually window shopping next to the unknown plume of gas. The plume is at least 50 feet tall.

Anyone who needs steam could install there own natgas powered boiler to generate it. They don't have to because Con Ed supplies steam. But if Con Ed removed that service, they'd have to do it themselves.

That picture is awesome. It looks Photoshop but it is not. I was in Hawaii (Oahu) 1 week before the volcano erupted.

It looks like something a New Yorker would do.
