Ive heard of this and am not surprised. They sell the New York papers around here in many places, too, so I see the front pages of the Times, Daily News and Post fairly regularly. The Daily News always stood out because it felt as kinda low rent as the Post but also tried to push some really leftist angles.

I always wondered how well a left-wing tabloid really could do in this day and age. Left-leaners are in my experience mostly older, very bourgeois types who don't read tabloids (i.e. the Times crowd) or kids who don't read any newspapers and get all their left-wing fill from the typical internet sources.

I guess we got the answer, and it's 'not very well at all'.

NY Post definitely loses money from estimates range from $20-$30 million a year up towards $100 million a year. We only have estimates since News Corp. does not break out individual newspapers in its quarterly earnings reports.

Only the reason it still operates is because Rupert has a sentimental attachment to NYP; it's predicted that when his sons fully take over News Corp, they will not hesitate to kill it or sell it.

watch him have a clause in his will - you want the money then you keep NYP running

Most of their articles are non-sense and TMZ quality. I guess this explains it!

"most countries"?

Maybe most totalitarian dictatorships.

I am a supporter of the Constitution and Bill of Rights that protects free speech and free press, even when they are dipsh**s like the Daily News.

But if you support the jailing of journalists, keep supporting the current regime. I am sure they will get around to it if they are in office long enough.

Disgusting.

Regarding Roe vs Wade: there's so much misinformation about this law, it's not even funny. If Roe vs Wade would go, the abortion decision would simply shift from a federal to a state decision (see: https://www.factcheck.org/2008/04/ef...ng-roe-v-wade/). In a state like NY there would be no impact. I'm pro-choice, but also a constitutionalist and I feel Roe vs Wade was and is an overreach.

The problem with the NY media is that they (and your points above) assume everyone is a liberal. I used to subscribe to the NY Daily News before Trump ran for President, but I was really disgusted with their coverage of Trump and it only has gotten worse. Previously I read the voice of the people only but since they changed to a pay model for digital access I mainly stopped reading it. I refuse to give 99 cents to a rag like the NYDN.
Negative news sells more than positive news.
