In what appeared to be a response to these critics, the City Council announced Tuesday that it would be creating an Office of Inclusion at the Taxi and Limousine Commission to look into passenger's complaints about being denied taxi service because of race.

The taxi industry is going to go bust eventually anyway so why bother? Uber and Lyft... CLEAN cars, courteous drivers. No having to hail a cab or wonder what the price will be. Some taxi drivers don't even want to take debit or credit cards. I had a guy hound me one afternoon as I was going back to my office from a long lunch Downtown. I waited to pay with my AMEX. The guy had the nerve to try to imply that the credit card machine was broken and eventually admitted that he just wanted me to pay in cash. I swiped my AMEX and went about my way.

Yeabut Amex allows one to pay taxi fares with points. Exchange rate is quite good which makes the scheme one of the better ways to use member points.

Yes, it is one of the better ways to redeem reward points. Especially nowadays when all cards seem to be cutting things back. Scheme works with Uber as well.

Works out to about one point per cent; which is pretty good compared to other options such as gift cards.
