Interesting story. 9/11 - what a day. I was there too, but not in the WTC. I came home covered in dust, but I crossed the Brooklyn Bridge. It definitely left a mark on my soul. And I too witnessed jumpers.
9/11.....what a day.......

"Motorman" Luciano was a dispatcher, pressed into service in a role in which he had limited experience due to a labor dispute; When he took a curve too fast, sme ofthe older wooden cars were thrown against a line of upright steel beams, which went through the rolling stock like slicing bread.
The reports of victims electrocuted by third rail are true, but probably embellished due to the horrific nature of the accident; it is possible to come in contact with a live third rail -- but not that easy -- until some of it was torn loose from its anchors and shielding.
If there is a redeeming feature to this sad story, it's that most of the carnage would be less likely due to a century of progress in safety measures. It is hard to die on a train -- of any variety.
