I've only seen Fordham (Bronx) campus from a distance but it's architecture is possibly the best I can think of for any other University in NYC. It fits in with it's surroundings. As a transplant person, what I have seen of The Bronx is a place with strong potential. It can be cleaned up.

The Fordham Bronx campus is BEAUTIFUL. I've been to the one in Manhattan as well on the Upper West Side, and it isn't nearly as nice. However Fordham (the neighborhood) is stuck in a time warp. It looks like Downtown Brooklyn before it was updated. Drab, dirty and run down with thugs hanging out everywhere.

It's near New York Botanical Garden is on par with Fordham. NYBG is like a premier botany place in the entire world.

The Bronx can be cleaned up. That is just how I see it.

We have to remember that the Bronx was built as an escape for middle to upper middle class people. Most it WAS beautiful... A lot of it in fact. When white flight hit that's when most of the Bronx burned. A damn shame... Even Riverdale isn't as nice as it used to be. Lots of trashy people trying to get in up there destroying the neighborhood.

Remember this article about bulldozing major problem areas?

City closes 'The Hole'

And now here is a more recent article, like it's popped up elsewhere

https://nypost.com/2018/05/23/junkie...oting-gallery/

I still believe it can be cleaned up...

It really started with the gutting of the borough with the Cross Bronx trench and Moses expressways. All (steeply) downhill from there

Agreed. You can still see some beautiful architecture though. I think what's interesting is even in the run down parts you can see some great stuff. There are some very nice looking buildings down by Yankee Stadium going towards Highbridge. Architecture is grandiose. If those buildings were gutted and you got rid of the Section 8 types destroying everything boy the Bronx could be a great place. It's hard for the borough to flourish with so many of these types living there. They need to find a way to ship them out. The only reason that places like Riverdale have survived is because they are expensive and mainly owners instead of renters. Those co-ops have helped to keep the trash out. I mean God, there are people out there that would love to see the Bronx remain as a dump as if the entire place should be a dumping ground for the poor.

I'm amazed how Fordham Plaza has been remodeled twice in a span of 20 years.

Yea, the amount of garbage strewn about is disgusting. I also remember passing by a lot of garbage bins that were filled above the brim and with garbage piling up around. It’s probably a complete ****show when a firm gust blows. Who the hell is the city contracting for pickup and who is responsible for scheduling?
