I don't think you have enough experience then, because young people in other states DO go out in their pajamas if they want to.
I have lived in New York, New Orleans, New Jersey, San Antonio, Houston, Boston and San Francisco. Still not the point. But you hang onto that bone if you want to.

Also, London, Paris, Florence and Lugano.
New Orleans is hippie central! People dressed super casual (not just the tourists) is a very common sight.
NYC is one of the most social welfare generous U.S. city out there. We spend I don't know countless billions helping the poor and homeless so I don't think that is the reason.
Not even remotely goddamn close to what someone living in Taipei or Tokyo gets, though maybe close or more in how much ends up being spent.
Well, I'll certainly agree that people dress more poorly now than they used to, not just more casually, but often inappropriately - and, yes, a lot of women seem not to be taught how clothes should fit.

Well that’s a different topic all together. I am not thin by any stretch but wouldn’t be caught dead in some of the shirts and (way too short) shorts I see some large round women wearing but that comes under no accounting for taste. Not sure you can say that’s more prevalent in NYC than elsewhere.
Almost every country I've been to: Spain, Italy, France, Israel (where almost everyone is smoking hot), even England and Canada have better-looking people than America

Yeah. Not just casually (which is fine) but inappropriately like wearing pajamas to class in college. Really, I forget which college but they were so fed up with students walking in class with pajama bottoms on that administration had to make up a new rule stating "no wearing pajamas in classroom". lol. Isn't that like common sense?

I've been to a few of those countries and don't find there to be a huge difference.
And young Europeans at least in my experience tend to dress pretty casually.
