All of that adds up to why small crappy East Baltimore rowhouses are golden these days.

The odd part is that the larger houses are much less attractive for rehab since they cost so much more to rehab and don't sell for much more. Also, be careful when looking at listing prices. Most of the very low priced homes are auction listings showing up at the minimum bid price. Nobody is getting anyplace that is occupiable for less than $10K. Part of being crappy is being not fit to live in by any standard.

Having never been decided to let Google take me to East and West Baltimore.

Brownstones/ limestone are generally 3 family and another in the basement/cellar. Housing 4 families. Works awesome if the 4 families are related.

Then there is the 4 family row house broken up into an 8 family (double) All with a hidden apartment /attic . Feels like a tenement. railroad layout.

Philly / baltimore/DC are not set up like ny/NJ.
South of the tristate are all mostly 1 family.

Have already said; brownstone, limestone or whatever mean nothing per se. They are just the building materials used for the faƧade and thus take on a life of their own when describing type of home.

A row house, is a row house, is a row house. You can substitute "terraced", or "town house" if you like but in the end we're talking about the same things; buildings that share common walls.
