Past several weeks have noticed at least during day and early evening downtown trains are always held at 42nd for three to five minutes. Uptown trains tend to creep and or stop in tunnel on the last leg (after 57th and Seventh to 96th).

I stop taking it in the morning. Used to transfer in Lex from the F but now is always delayed....and it always smells like wet cat for some reason.

Still love the "Q", but yeah, the novelty has sort of worn off. It now is just another NYC subway; complete with homeless, delays, service changes, etc....
That first mentioned likely is cause of "wet cat" smell.
The Q has become infested with homeless not just on the trains, but at the UES stations as well. A few have taken up residence at the south end of 86th Street (83rd) station just inside the entrance/exit. Saw one regular having his dinner sitting on ledge near escalators last night. Meanwhile on the platforms nearly every bench seems to have at least one homeless camped out; especially as evening turns into over night.
Since the Broadway and Eighth Avenue subways seem to be a cluster..., have been using the Q to get down to Tribeca/City Hall area (transferring at Union Square). Just noticed past few weeks trains are really GD slow. Between being held at stations (usually 42nd), and often creeping along portions of route, all the *ZIP* that came with opening of new line is now gone.
Will say that both morning and evening rush hours traffic to and from the UES stations is a mad house compared to when Q first opened.
The mezzanines were made large on purpose so that they could have somewhere to go
Well the Jehovah Witnesses have set up shop at the 86th street station (at least the 83rd entrance/exit), wonder if they need a permit for standing around there all day.
As for the large mezzanines and platforms all one can say is "thank God)! Standing at Union Square and most other stations you barely have room to do just that due to crowding. Can see why and how so many are "falling" onto tracks.
The Q has been fully accepted into the fold of the MTA.
I have also noticed it is pokier than it was but have not seen much of an increase in homeless. About the same as it was since it opened.
"Wet cat smell" is a very kind way of describing the Walking Dead stench of some of these guys.
Numbers on SAS platforms and stations has been increasing of late, and certainly numbers of homeless riding the Q trains themselves is up. Look to both numbers to increase as colder/bad weather arrives and they seek shelter and warmth.
The Q-train is my NINTH Wonder of the World. I feel blessed by its existence. It is one of the nicest things that has ever happened to me. I give thanks with every swipe of my Metrocard.

Do you ever think if you wouldn't have left NJ for the UES, it may never have been completed.....It did it for you.
It was my prayers to Vishnu that did the trick.
Now I have one more request of the Cosmos that involves $1.6 Billion. (But that might be a bit on the greedy side.)
