Cosi is on a distinguished road
Default Has anyone recently moved to Concourse Village from Manhattan?

My husband and I are buying our first place and it seems that South of Bronx is an easy commute to Manhattan and is also affordable. Real estate agents are doing their part of the job and promoting Concourse Village near Yankee Stadium as the "next hot thing".
We live in Washington Heights right now and we would be willing to move to what would be considered as a less safe neighborhood, but with hopes that that will change.
Any opinions about this?
Perhaps someone who just moved there from Manhattan could voice their thoughts, impressions?

It's called Concourse Village now?

I think the area is definitely improving. But a gamble is a gamble. You have to be willing to take it and suffer any possible consequences. You might have to be real patient to see any possible gains.

It has always been called Concourse Village...but lost its identity, as did most areas south of the Cross Bronx, once the "South Bronx" all encompassing term took hold. There is ALOT, and I mean ALOT happening around the Yankee stadium area AND just East of it in Melrose. There is HUGE upside potential at the point as the area is basically being rebuilt from the ground up, especially in places like Melrose where there aer mostly vacant lots and new "luxury" buildings being put up all over the place.

I would do some research, good the Yankee Stadium redevelopment zone as well as the Melrose Urban Renewal Plan....they will give you a good idea about what is happening in these area...its gonna be pretty cool in the next 3 years.

Hmm...I always knew it as Concourse.

Anyways lots of stuff happening there. Still suffers from crime though. Go and check it out if you want but don't go farther north then you have too. For your sake.

SoBro = South Bronx. BUT the original term was 'SoBroke' , which was a more accurate description of the area, however due to sheer luck, the marketing budget was so low they could not afford to print/market the entire word, so they cut off the k and e...hence we have 'SoBro'.

Concourse Village near Yankee Stadium as the "next hot thing".
To be wedged between the legions of muggers and the hordes of drunken Yankee fans holds little appeal.
