It's a mess in San Francisco and a nuisance.

I'm starting to think people should stick to cars. I was almost hit by a guy who was texting WHILE RIDING A BICYCLE. At least in cars, drivers seem to understand they're supposed to watch what's going on.

Don't worry because the bike lanes are going bye bye which means they'll be on the side walks even more again.

This is why I moved out of the city for the brief time I lived there. 6,000,000 ways to die.

Scooters ,scooters ,scooters.
Not once did I see an elderly on one of these contraptions.
They were all young adults riding these 2 wheeled assisted roller skates.
Aimed solely at the youth. Only serves a segment of the population.
Has no positive benefit for the populace as a whole while putting the lives
of the elderly at risk. Therefore, if these devices make it to market they
better follow the rules of the road for if left unregulated it will result in lawsuit after lawsuit..

I will not be living in NY metro area after age 55. You won't catch me getting run over by helipads or whatever the latest commuter technology is to get around the MTAs ineptitude. Now I still have Jaguar reflexes and reaction speed but that won't always be the case obviously as aging takes effect.

With the L train shut down looming and the current troubles with the MTA, NJ Transit & Metro, people are daydreaming about alternative methods of transport.

Ditto. 55 and out for me as well. Bikes, scooters, motorized skateboards, 3-wheeled cars, out-of-state plates.....this city has become too dangerous just to get around. I'm looking forward to open space and country roads.

By the time I leave there will be no Native NYer who was issued an NYC birth certificate before 1990 living here anymore.

New York's finest are ready to stop it, that's for sure. I'm sure they'll hate scooters even more than they hate bicycles.
