Rikers Island is a perfect spot for a jail and a homeless and mental centers.

They should renovate the prison buildings and retro fit it for the homeless and mental ill.

The unused land will be the new start of the art prison.

Putting homeless people where they can't easily access services strikes me as a truly amazing idea.

It is already illegal to take up more than one space and or litter on subways or buses. All this directive does is instruct station managers to summon NYPD.....

Transit police *should* have been doing this from the get go, again as it is the law. Normal passengers can (and have) been written up for say putting bags on seat next to them (taking up more than one space) for years now.

They just dump their coffee can of urine down the vent grills on the sidewalk over the subway...trickle down theory in action!

Really? So are they writing tickets for fat people that take up more than 1 seat?
I purposely find that fat person in the 3 seater thats taking up one and a half seat just so that no one sits next to me and I have space.

Simple solution... Just stand. I wouldn't dare sit on the dirty subway. I do hold on though and I make sure to wash my hands immediately afterwards.

Stop trying to be funny. You know what I meant. You Can No Longer Be Arrested for Taking Up Two Seats on the Subway

As for the fatties, nothing ticks me off more than when some big broad (it's always a woman) tries to squeeze herself into a narrow seat on subway between myself and another passenger.

Once shoe horned in they won't sit still. But fidget, reach into their bags (for a candy bar or something to eat...), or whatever.

Worse big people sweat even from the slightest movements. So during this warm/hot and muggy summer it just brought more fun.

And when you are a woman, especially a skinny one, it's always a fat man who decides to wedge his rump next to yours.
