Brian Lehrer' s radio program on WNYC featured a segment on Amazon and locals pols efforts to entice them back. You can access it on the WNYC site or on sites like Stitcher.

Anyone with common sense or any idea of how tax accounting works will realize that Amazon will never pay a PENNY of tax into either NY, NYC, or Federal coffers...PERIOD.

Just like the Trump Organization, or General Electric.
Yeah how much did we pay to develop Trump Stinks in Throgs Neck? That would be $127 million dollars of tax money. How much do they get for it, not that it is open. NADA. It's $185 a day to play there on weekends.

The reality is that Amazon chooses where it benefits them. They don't really care about NYers, unless the negative publicity affects them. If they really cared about NYers, LIC location was a horrible choice. I can name 5 other locations around NYC that are better and more beneficial for Amazon and NYers together. But we knew this had some insider trading issues. Some Amazon workers already bought LIC properties last year ahead of of the announcement.

One of the reasons they chose LIC was some decision makers pushed for it as they had financial investments in the area. The other being that LIC has had lots of vacancies and developers couldn't get any tech companies to move there. Facebook and Google all prefer Manhattan. That's why LIC was chosen because it was a cheaper area than going downtown.

Amazon is not interested in helping NYers fix the railroads such as Hudson Yards or renew Eastern Parkways or Jamaica Queens. They are here for themselves.

That's why I don't support giving them anything because they could've chosen NYC without any incentives.

Private organizations are not suppose to care about anyone else but themselves. You must be confusing private industry with charitable organizations. That's why we have governments. Governments are the ones that are suppose to care for the city (and yet even they don't really care).

NYC doesn't need private industry to care for it. It just needs as much private industry as possible to be located within its borders so that it can generate revenue from them. That's how a place flourishes and prospers, not on "care". Care does not pay the bills. LOL.

You are a quality poster 90% of the time and I agree with you on most topics but right here with this post (and others in this thread) with your anti-Amazon rants, you seem to be very "off" as far as reality is concerned.
