I'm applying for an out-of-state license which requires that I submit fingerprint cards. Any suggestions on where I can get fingerprints taken? I'm assuming that the local police Precinct doesn't provide that service, unless they're planning to keep someone for the night .....

Just throw a brick thru your local bodega's window. That is bound to get some attention from guys who would like to fingerprint you .

I think some precincts do this for a fee of $15 but hours can be limited

I couldn't get my precinct to do it for me, so I went to police headquarters downtown (1 Police Plaza; the office is to the left on the first floor). It was $15 for the first set, and $1 for each additional set (at least when I did it 1.5 months ago). Going there is a bit of a hassle, as you have to go through security, wait 15 minutes in line, and then wait 10 minutes for the cards to be ready. Also, it's only open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Their phone number is 646-610-5541.

The precinct near Baruch college does it - or at least they did a couple of years ago. They were nice and told me the best time to come in so I didn't have to wait. You have to bring the fingerprint cards with you. Not every precinct does it because they don't use ink anymore.
