I just registered my out of state car in NYC. I read on th DMV website that my MA inspection is valid here until it expires so I put my NYC registration sticker next to the MA state inspection sticker which is on the right side of my windshield. I saw a lot of NY car registration stickers on the left side of their cars. My question is: Will I get a ticket because my NY registration sticker is on the opposite site?
yes. I had the same issue when i transfered my car from NJ. You're gonna have to peel it off and put it on the other side. I had $300 worth of tickets from this (they're $50 a pop). I got them removed in court by bringing a picture of my windshield, but believe me it was a hassle. Remove it ASAP and put it on the other side.
so I peeled off the registration sticker and put it on the other side..what about the MA state inspection sticker which remains on the opposite side..do I need worry despite the fact NY DMV says it is valid until it expires which in Nov. 08? Thanks
If it were me, I would get a NY inspection sticker anyway (assuming your car is up to it). The traffic (ticket) agents here are real
[insert expletive(s) here] and it is likely they might write you tickets anyway, which you would have to fight. A NY inspection is around $40 pass or fail. If your car is in good shape it might be worth it to get it before it is technically required just to avoid the possible hassle.

I wouldn't worry about it. I know plenty of people who leave the Mass. sticker on the right side with no problems. I heard of more problems in Mass. when the NYS sticker was left on the left side.
What if the registration and the inspection sticker are on the proper side of the window but the inspection sticker in where the registration sticker should be and the registration sticker is where the inspection sticker should be?
It's difficult to see how any of this becomes an issue. Put the stickers where they're supposed to be and that's it; end of problem!
