Just curious. Having lived in nyc for several years, I still cannot tell what nyc accent is like because way too many accents everywhere you go. if anything, ny accent is probably the faintest to my ears among the people that I interact with.

You're right, the accents in NY widely vary. Trump grew up rich so he doesn't really display that old school, blue collar white accent

where to go to hear the old school white or black ny accents? Do young new yorkers with roots in nyc still know how to turn on the native accents?

Well the black NY accent is still common but I don't know how old school it is exactly.

Most young white native New Yorkers don't have much of an accent.

Head to Long Island to hear old school NY accents. Most of us have moved out that way (although not me). Trump has a combo old school Queens NYC accent mixed with elite Manhattanite accent. Very odd.

If you want to hear a real old school NYC accent just listen to Bernie Sanders.

Ralph Kramden (The Honeymooners) has an old New York accent. Travolta, in Saturday Night Fever has a bit of an Italian Brooklyn accent, but his accent was a little overdone.

Archie Bunker has an old Queens accent (though not southeast Queens).
