For those who have had the experience, how did your enjoyment of NYC change from your 20s to your 30s? I know everyone has different experiences and different contexts, but I'm curious as to what people's experiences have been.

Why would it drop?
I'm living my best life now like I was back then.

I regretted my wording pretty soon after I wrote that and was in the midst of changing it when you responded!

I guess it's more like what kind of change did you experience.

I think it was better when I was in my 20s than now that's for sure. A hell of a lot more expensive. Too many tourists, too many transplants. It's become dull in some respects. Losing that edge that it had... I wouldn't consider leaving but not as exciting as it was.

Specifically my enjoyment of the city? I can't stand being in any of the other boroughs anymore. Not worth the hassle involved (traffic, tolls, crowds, more expensive and pretentious). In my 20's I occasionally enjoyed trips to Manhattan and loved working in Brooklyn. In my 30's I started working in Manhattan and quickly hated all aspects of it. The rest of my life is just fine, so that has nothing to do with my opinion. I'm just much, much happier when I'm on Staten Island or even better, somewhere outside the city all together!

I am 34 now.

NYC was fun in my 20s.

In my 30s, it has become a pain since i no longer what to be in this city since the cost of living is super high and the quality of life can be bad depending on the area that you live. The nightlife is dead. The city is JAM PACKED! The trains are awful yet cheap.

Hope to move next year.

I guess as you get older certain things start to bother you.

I'm almost 30 and I'm already over this. Haven't been going out much on the weekends as is, but if I do, I don't even bother with MTA. I just spend the money for an Uber or Lyft than deal with that nonsense. It's been so long since I attempted to ride the train on a weekend. I do not miss it at all.

It's sad the amount of money I waste in cabs just to avoid the train. Damn shame.

Only because kids were born and we wanted better schools and less crowding. Calmer life.

Otherwise I miss NYC in my 20s. Lots of wild fun. I still work there so its not all gone.
