Usual suspects are highly upset that the NYC Archdiocese won't *give* them a LES property they want for their current cause de jour; affordable housing/community use.

Outraged By Property Sales To Luxury Developers, Affordable Housing Group Takes On The Catholic Church: Gothamist

They made their offer and the RC church shot them down; basically saying property is worth more than their low ball offer. Worse the SJW wanted to put very little money down, then rely upon federal and or local funding along with an extended payment plan.

Church to their credit isn't having any of it. Knowing they can get cash on the line upfront aren't in any mood atm.

Why can’t people just settle with being unhappy about the child molestations and subsequent cover-ups? That seems like already ample room for outrage!

While Trinity and the RC church are prime NYC landholders, other religons are also cutting deals; selling up their properties for maximum value. A few Jewish synagogues on UWS have sold recently including one congregation that made possible a massive new tall tower development that has some in that area *HOT*.

Uptown in Harlem historic and otherwise churches find their congregations selling up as well.

As for the RC church it is a mixed bag. As article points out they have done their fair share in donating or otherwise letting property go at below market prices for public benefit.

Saint Brigid's was saved: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Br...rch_(Manhattan)

But Saint Anne was not: The Case of the Missing Church Half | Scouting NY

And so it goes.

To be fair it is the church's property to sell and or otherwise do with as they see fit. Long as they aren't breaking any known laws people need to accept the fact, for it is a fact there still is such a thing as private property.

Getting back to subject of your post; yes, now that Cuomo and democrats have opened the flood gates to victims of abuse the RC church and many others are likely going to need all the financial reserves they can get.

Driving earlier this week heard several commercials on radio already from attorneys looking to get their taste.

.
Cuomo did nothing to harm the RCC. Their pedophiles caused the RCC enormous harm.

Now the RCC must pay for its sins.

Cuomo and those democrat thugs are making it easier for RCC to be sued and to pay for damages though. That’s so unfair! RCC reps have already apologized and now you want them to pay?! Like, imagine if you or your loved ones were repeatedly molested as children by a community authority figure you trusted—do you really think that warrants more than an apology? These democratic marxists think that’s somehow inadequate EVEN after repeated apologies. You can’t make this stuff up.

Great satirical post, and yes just the RCC would think settlements are cruel and unusual punishment.

I cannot imagine why someone would defend pedophile priests. Pedophiles, for obvious reasons considered among the LOWEST of criminals (raping defenseless children) and the church covered up this scandal.

So if the church is being sued into oblivion, that's perfectly fine. Priests are not above the law, and if anything there should be criminal penalties for church officials who knowingly hide pedophiles.

Molestation not only is physically and emotionally damaged, those priests could have given some child a STD, including HIV.

Or a girl who has reached puberty is raped by a priest, she could get pregnant.

There's absolutely no reason to inject liberal versus conservative politics into this matter. When something is wrong, it is wrong. Yes, more churches will close and more church properties will be sold but if that's what it takes to keep children safe from sexual predators then that is what is needed to be done.

why are you calling these people "SJWs"? regardless of their lowball offer, they have enough money to purchase large pieces of in-demand real estate for a (presumably) good cause. you might disagree with them, their funding, or even shake your head at their lowball offer but the term SJW doesn't seem to apply here
