Bought & paid for an iPhone Fri, 3/15 on eBay after telling seller I needed delivery on or before 3/22 as it was going to Mexico with me on the 24th

Seller in PA shipped it Priority Mail Monday early morning (18th) still not in Brooklyn and my flight is tomorrow.

Notification said “Delivery by 8Pm on 20th”. Later it changed to 20th but late. SHIPPED FROM HAZELTON, PA. It’s stuck in Philly.

Every day when I track it, I get this msg, updated to the current day. “March 22, 2019 In Transit, Arriving Late
Your package will arrive later than expected, but is still on its way. It is currently in transit to the next facility.

Seller and eBay are out of the loop. Post office (11211) are zero help. Leaving for JFK about noon tomorrow and, failing divine intervention., this New In Box phone won’t be on the plane with me. eBay Help said I can get a guaranteed refund but can’t start the process until the 27th. Got a killer deal on this phone so really don’t want a refund. No idea what has gone wrong here.

IF ANYONE IS GOING TO CANCUN IN MARCH, THRU APRIL 19, I WILL PAY IF YOU WILL MULE IT THERE FOR ME.

PM ME FOR MORE INFO. THANKS

It shipped on the 18th and it has not delivered. You should be able to get a refund on the shipping.

Whose idea was it to ship via USPS? It should have been shipped UPS/FedEx Ground.

You could have shipped it UPS/FedEx Ground and it would have been delivered in 1 business day.

If I don’t receive it by noon tomorrow, I’ll initate a refund for the price of the item, on the 27th, per my instructions received from eBay.

I used to post a lot on City Data but not much in the last year or so.

Thanks for the comments. I appreciate them and have learned a good lesson.

They've been better by my mom's place at least recently. Yeah, they dump all the boxes smack in the middle of the lobby so it becomes an easter egg hunt but at least they deliver. A bit of an improvement over the past when they would say a delivery has been made only to find when you rush down to the lobby that they didn't deliver at all.

USPS if managed correctly with a proper WMS and tracking system could have dominated the parcel industry.

Similar to the yellow cab industry, it allowed UPS and Fedex to take the lion's share in the market.

I pay extra to avoid anything shipping via USPS, Fedex smartpost or UPS smartpost.

Nothing in all my bad experiences leads me to believe USPS is corrupt.

The problem is incompetence/indifference/lack of accountability, not corruption.

There's a good reason that Amazon uses it's own delivery service now more than USPS. In fact, I haven't had USPS deliver an Amazon item for awhile. Not only the Amazon package shows up on time and I get a picture of my item. If Ebay wants to beat Amazon, they need to run their own delivery service.
