This article is mostly about ropes but I found it interesting that the emergency response units now also fly drones up to see inside apartments from the outside in confrontation situations. The rope trick itself seems like a clever way to control a situation:

Those drones must have special firmware to override no-fly zone restrictions which is pretty much all of Manhattan and huge areas around the airports

There is something in the drones that makes them inoperable in Manhattan?

Yes, all the big drone manufactures have pre programmed firmware with geofencing of no fly zones which they enforce to stay on the good side of regulators. You can get around it by loading older firmware or hacking it

Is geofencing active in all of Manhattan? Someone flew a drone into a building in Manhattan in November.
