LOL - I just don't like the idea of Apple Pay. Can't even justify it, as I use all manner of other electronic payment methods. Apple Pay just creeps me out for some inexplicable reason.
Then combining that with innate distrust of the MTA....If it were practical to refill my MetroCard with cash, I'd do that.
Also no shade meant at geezers - I was being slightly tongue in cheek. The argument on this board against OMNY/contactless payment is usually along the lines of "elderly people tend to not have smartphones". I don't really have an opinion one way or another - I don't know many actual elderly people well enough to know what kind of phone they have. My grandparents are in their late 80s, my grandmother was afraid someone would steal her cell phone so she kept it locked in a closet lol. My grandfather got his first cell phone about 3 years ago and has embraced it wholeheartedly (but he does keep dropping it and then trying to put it back together himself - he has a dumbphone).
My issue with contactless is that I just don't want to have that many disparate transactions with the MTA. The once or twice a month I refill my metrocard is enough for me.
