Blackouts suck. I'm actually accustomed to them. We used to get them once a year during the summer in Far Rock in the '80s. One time it happened while me and my mother were in the supermarket. Hope nobody's in an elevator.

I was surprised to see the pics of the subway stations in darkness. I've never experienced that. I recall a massive power outage in Queens (maybe elsewhere as well) about 10-12 years ago or so. I wasn't here that summer luckily.

Blackout 2003

I went down into Bergen Street train station on the F train me and my homeboy, pitch black (I worked in the area at the time)

Most dangerous driving I've ever done in my life that night from Downtown Brooklyn to Coney Island

So yeah

Next morning Utica Avenue ppl either auctioning off gas or ice

I had just filled up before the madness so I was lucky.

I was actually thinking of the one in 2006 but it seems to have been largely in my area of Queens and not elsewhere so probably didn't affect as many people. I just recall being glad I was away that summer.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_Queens_blackout

I was working elsewhere outside of NYC for summers through 2010 so any blackouts up to that time I didn't have the pleasure of experiencing
