Thereís no equivalent of Halal food like Chipotle is to Mexican.
Chipotle is not really a replacement for Mexican food.

Most of the ones I've had have been good. I find them to be higher quality on average than the halal carts, some of which are pretty disappointing.

I wonder if the average for halal carts has been dropping. A great halal cart is still a joy though.

Mexican taco trucks are not going to make an explosion in the city. Remember who drives them uber's and yellow. It ain't mexicans.

Outer boroughs is a different story. Taco trucks rule. I even saw a halal cart try to start up across the street and right next to the taco truck, but it did not go well...

The halal guys know where to set up, and it's usually halal fans part of the neighnorhood.

I don't think it's a fierce competition, I've seen them parked next to each other in places like Jackson Heights and Bushwick on a regular basis

I also don't think that the average halal cart costomer is a Bengali cab driver, at least not the ones in Manhattan.

I share the same sentiment.

I'm not sure if I'm just tired of if the average one just doesn't put much effort in.

King if Falafel is good. Itís on 53rd and Park.
Rafiqii is good, on 52nd and park.
And you have Greek, Gusys. On 50th and park. Usually a line of 100 people by 12:30. They are good as well.

All wishing 8/11$

Mexican trucks do appear from time to time, but itís a hit or miss.

Overall we lack variety and zing other areas have with the trucks.

Would love to see some solid Philly cheese steak trucks, Mexican , Thai and real BBQ truck.

No I dont agree

Halal will always lead in the hood

We have a halal cart right on my block, 6 days a week (I'm not sure about Sundays)

Their food is good, I have to be in the type of mood to eat it tho

There's only a few in the city compared to the tons of Chipotles. If you're in Manhattan below 59th St, you're in walking distance of a Chipotle most likely.
