Do you agree? Manhattan is still filled with halal/hot dog trucks of course, but I'm seeing more and more Mexican food trucks pop up (in all 5 boroughs) and I personally find the food from those to be a lot better on average.

Not sure about Mexican, but I do see a lot of food trucks in general where I work, albeit not where I live. They are higher quality. I just hope Rafiqi's stays.

A variety of food trucks are popping up for sure, but I think Mexican is the most prominent.

Mexican is the best North American food out there. A welcome addition to the scene after so many unfortunate individuals had to suffer the abysmal bland American cuisine for too many years. Fried, bland, salty and high fructose corn syrup. Low-end!

Cajun food is American and it's very good.

I work in midtown. The bore of Manhattan if you want culinary choices. In comparison, other areas are blessed.

We have rafiqi, Greek and a few other trucks near by. From one side, I feel like these trucks make the city look like third world dumps, but on another side, Iím glad they are there or else we would be eating from generic delis, buffets and chipotle.

Are any of the halal trucks in Midtown actually good? I'm usually slightly disappointed when I get chicken/lamb over rice from one of them.

And BBQ is distinctly American. The best food genre ever.

I doubt it, because Food truck needs a parking spot and they are not allowed in front of buildings without an agreement with the building owners.

Most food trucks have to get out early to compete for spots or else someone will take it. The carts can be in designated corners that are owned by the city and the building owners cannot kick them out.

There will be a good mixture of both. But there are already plenty of brick and mortar Mexican restaurants. There are way more Mexican than Middle Eastern/north African cuisine.
