Everyone mouthing off about "free" or whatever delivery ought to read, it becomes clear why no one but immigrants do the job.

I did it very part time for funsies and exercise for a while—it’s really tough and the pay, which thankfully wasn’t really a great need for me, was pretty bad.

I just do Citibike bike angeling for fun instead which is way less stressful.

It varies, some people don't give a GD dime, others a few bills, still others do the right thing.

This being said some guys do well enough, raking in $200-$300 or more in cash tips that you *know* they aren't declaring to IRS. Well maybe not all of it, but that would depend on certain circumstances.

Hey, you are right, lets open the border totally, and let anyone and everyone come whenever they want.

Being a bike messenger should not be a career job. It should be a part-time or an inbetween job.

"And don’t forget to tip — cash, please, since one app effectively pockets tips made via the app — and generously." Why didn't this doofus shame the app that keeps a % of the tip??

hard to believe that 66% of people didn't tip. You wonder if that's because they see the deliver fee as the tip.

Ordering food in NYC has become so much more expensive with grubhub taking so much of a large %, restaurants raising prices, and now the minimum wage. When I was single in my 20's I ordered all the time because my time was better spent on other things. But now it's just so expensive and I think that ultimately alot of those costs get passed down to the delivery person.

Yeah I don't tip if there's a delivery fee ... i do let the delivery guy know there was a fee added so if they are supposed to get a part of that they go after it. I also tend to give them information for work legal representation so they aren't exploited.

it becomes clear why no one but immigrants do the job.

Because business owners are allowed to break minimum wage laws as a tax dodge and rely on generosity to make up the difference, because we live in a nation where corporations are people more than actual people are
