Good advice, but how sick is in that to remind people to check for KIDS, and we tell them to put there CELLPHONE in the back?

Anytime this happens it just serves to prove how stupid we as a species can possibly be.

They are both just things that have to be done, and things that have to be done can be forgotten when one is distracted or tired or sick or a regular routine is disrupted in some way.

And if that makes you screech indignantly, "but a baby is not the garbage", then you totally fail to grasp the concept.

the reason "put the cell phone in the back with the baby" will work has nothing to do with a cell phone being more important than a baby, but that there's a good chance that the task called "take your cell phone with you" will be remembered, and then you will say, "oh crap, i forgot to drop off the baby!!!!!!"

now if it is found that the father didn't just forget but left the kids in the car on purpose or was in some way impaired, that would be a different story. I understand he has been charged with manslaughter, which is usually the procedure.

When these things happen, i often wonder how many times in cooler weather a parent didn't come out to his or her car at the end of the day to find a crying, smelly, hungry kid, and almost have a heart attack. I bet they never tell about that.

this is all BS

baby = cellphone.

thats pathetic

Your inability--or more likely refusal--to read certainly is pathetic. The bolded is exactly what I said is NOT the case. I don't care if you don't like learning things, but please don't try to make it sound if I said something other than what I did, because that DOES pizz me off no end. Tired old Internet message board tactic. Childish, too.

But hey, I didn't make up this business about how the brain works. If you're smarter Diamond and his colleagues, write to them and tell them why they're wrong. I'm sure they're waiting to hear from you.

any parent that needs to put a cellphone in the back seat so they dont forget thier child, doesnt deserve to be a parent.

I still stand by what I said.

gee, hunny, let put the cell phone in the back seat so we dont forget little charlie

when I need to go to the bank on the way home, I put a sticky on my dashboard, because I can accidently forget going to the bank, as I find a good parking spot and go up to my apartment, trust me, I wouldnt forget that I had a baby in my back seat, you really have to be some kind of complete moron, idiot, nutcase, to do that.

Whatever. I was offering the information from the well-known Washington Post article. I realize not many people these days can or will read a full-length, informative article, but I found the science on the workings of the brain fascinating, even though I never forgot my kid in a car, either.

Lyn Balfour, the most famous case, was not a moron. She is a military veteran, and worked at JAG, and yet it happened to her.

I thought the same way you did until I read it. Learning something new gave me a different perspective. Not your thing, fine. Have a nice evening.

Do you have a link to the article?

I’ll read it if for nothing other than I can’t fathom how kids aren’t the top priority at all times. I don’t ever need a mind-game to remind me about ANYTHING when it comes to my kids, much less forgetting they are with me entirely.
