I recently was approved by the city and the management company for an apartment. When I went in for an interview, the agent told me that I qualify for a studio and also a 1 bedroom apartment. So, I told the agent that I would prefer a 1 bedroom apartment instead but, now it seems that they assigned me a studio. Is it ok if I ask why? - According to the handbook states the following:
''When the applicant's household and income are verified at signing the Tenant Income Verification, the marketing agent must make the applicant aware of all available unit types for which they are eligible and offer to the applicant the opportunity to select the unit type''
Does that mean that I can still ask for the 1bedroom instead of the studio? - I do not want to sound ungrateful or anything like that. I'm just going by what the handbook states.
You can but if I’m not mistaken their is also some rule that says that they need to fill apts accordingly to maximize the number of people in the units. So you might get a studio just so a couple or single parent can get the 1 br.
