Don't you remember that poor woman a few years ago who got caught and dragged up and crushed and the witnesses could see her legs hanging down out of the elevator? That one gave me the willies.
I lived a block away from that building and walked past every day to work. Since then they totally redid the lobby and outer facade to 'erase' the shadow of the tragedy. Looks totally different.
That wasn’t the point I was trying to make. All I was trying to say is that they never determined the specific elevator he was in had been tampered with. It was the other elevator. And yet to be determined why the one he was in failed so spectacularly.
Another source made things clearer; but even if criminal charges are off the table, stand by rest of previous comment. According to published information this building has a long litany of problems with elevators. Once father of this poor unfortunate soul gets over his grief, he's likely going to get very angry. That will lead to lawyering up, and yes the deceased estate will end up owning that building.
Yes! I seem to remember that happening in the WTC (Two, IIRC) not long before the buildings went down. Elevator sped up to the top, stopped abuptly, and people were injured. There was a lawsuit going on, and then...9/11. Don't know what happened after that.
What happened to this guy happens to dogs all the time. People let the leash go and the dog is slow to get out, trailing the leash which gets caught in the doors then the elevator moves up or down choking the dog. Always hold your dog’s leash when entering or exiting elevators.

Hard to believe it happens "all the time" considering Animal rights groups haven't made a big fuss about Elevators for not having enough safety mechanisms to prevent this...
