By drastically inflating the cost of residing in the neighborhood. They use the financial markets and the FRBNY to localize inflation to wherever they want if applied.
Yes, and how would the government go about doing that in the neighborhood of Bayside specifically? You keep saying inflation inflation. I want to know what would specifically go up. Property tax? If so, how would they justify the increase to Bayside residents only, and not the rest of the city?

Inflation. Not property tax, not sales tax, not income tax, but inflation. Has more to do with government not raising taxes than raising taxes. Queens isn't supposed to be a boro of multimillion dollar homes. Nor should Brooklyn. Heck, not even Manhattan was supposed to be. This was meant to be a city for opportunities to be sought. Not a place for wealthy transplants to park their riches. NY is well equipped with the most powerful central bank in the World, and politicians are able to tap it for their agenda. Look around. I know here in Ridgewood and Glendale and Bushwick half the neighborhood has been displaced by localized inflation. It's no different in Williamsburg and Greenpoint and Astoria. When I ask my neighbors why they are moving out of Ridgewood, they simply say they just can't afford it anymore. These are people that have been living here for decades. All of a sudden they can't afford it, and next thing you know a transplant moves in that could. It is inflation. Inflation caused by the government because they do not want to raise our taxes knowingly if they do they are concerned we won't vote for them. So they hide it in the financial markets, using the banking system to cover it up. Then we have a financial crises. A financial crises, as always, caused by government. Yet government just places blame on the banking system that was a utility for them to carry out their scheme. It happens over and over again until there is war.

The transplants caused the real estate around your way to go up
Like I was telling pierrepont if somebody said 80-90% of new transplants in the last 15 years live within a 25 minute train ride to Manhattan I would not be surprised
There is no way a tenement in Ridgewood is worth 7 figures IMO, I dont care if the floors are radiant (I'm not dissing Ridgewood but the prices are out of control!)
I'm not paying 7 figures for an attached tenement rowhouse with no off-street parking
The only way you could effectively price out District 26 would be to actually extend the 7 train
LMAO

2 More years of Mayor Putz, right? So if the economy (no, let's not blame Trump here) takes a dump, the cops keep on doing what they're doing now (basically stop policing) you might just have enough people wake up out of their dreams and NOT vote for another liberal.

Or just watch what happens over the next 15 years. Government has lots of schemes. After they finish marketing the close proximity to Manhattan's business districts, they'll just move onto the next scheme, which could be to live within close proximity to District 26's blue ribbon schools. Especially as transplanter demographics change. It could be unfolding right in front of our eyes as we speak.
You could say the same for tenements in Manhattan and Brooklyn too. Falling apart brownstones are going for over a million dollars. These are mostly outdated railroad apartments. They were originally not built for the rich, but today that is all who can afford them. Something is very off.

No off street parking is the future for that area. Most of the luxury construction I've seen in neighboring Bushwick is driveway free. Should the new construction wave continue into Ridgewood, I bet it would be the same.

By the time that happens most progressives would become conservatives and realize what a klutz they were for voting DeBlasio.
The conservatives that moved out to suburbs will be laughing that former transplants are rushing to buy suburb townhouses for huge sums.
NYC in a recession will be house cleaning liberals and downsizing all the affordable housing to private. It's unsustainable for NYC to run projects as we knew from the 70-90s. It's hemorrhage.
When the tax revenue takes a serious nosedive, there will be serious budget cuts to all the handouts and crime will be out of control. They will have to bump salaries of cops by 25% to get them to take back the mean streets.
It's all cyclical, NYC will go back to those 70s and 80s days when the transplants and well to do flee.
