Norway rats?? LMAO I forgot about the rats... I actually think West Harlem has East Harlem beat in that area, which is saying something. I have seen more rats (and I mean BIG ones) in West Harlem than in East Harlem, despite parts of East Harlem being decisively dirtier.

I think they're both equal, I've seen rat infestations in both East and West Harlem.

I wasn't trying to paint East Harlem is somehow better, because I've had to run into the street in both areas because of HUGE rats jumping out of garbage cans, but West Harlem seemed to have more of them, maybe because of the amount of boarded up brownstones in the area I was passing by. The 130s in West Harlem still has lots of older buildings, and so they are out in FORCE.

LMAO... You may be right... There are still LOTS of old buildings down there. I'm not fooled by the luxury apartments one bit. I have to be in that area soon in fact for work for a meeting. Always lots of fun down there...

I haven't seen much difference in East Harlem in the 10 years I have been in Manhattan.

Still gritty and dirty, but there are more "luxury" buildings popping up, especially along 3rd Avenue.

Luxury apartment on 104/park with a scenic view of east harlems finest housing projects and the el! There's more rats in west harlem because there's more money (better food) there. Les got both beat as mentioned before.
