Seven years later the Savo Brothers still haven't gotten shovels into ground, and if BP Oddo has anything to do with it whatever happens will be far smaller than they imagined.

Speaking honestly don't have much hopes Board of Standards and Appeals will stop this hot mess of over development. Time and time again they've given the green light for developers to rape SI by tearing down single family homes and shoving those GD townhouse/duplex apartments. This even after areas were downsized to prevent just such things from happening.

The Board of Standards and Appeals (BSA) has become a rubber-stamp for deBlasio's ultimate goal of undermining every outer-borough middle-class neighborhood. But Bloomberg is partially to blame for the Mt. Manresa mess. The Bloomberg administration refused to consider downzoning the Mt. Manresa property to R3X, which permits 1 or 2 family detached homes only.

They built a pretty nice shopping center on Hylan Blvd & Ross Avenue.

Down zoning has two sides these days. Many who own out on SI just want to get their number when selling, fully realizing that their property is worth more to some eegits like Savo Bros and others who want to tear it down for GD townhouses. They fight against down zoning because it will "decrease" the value of their property.

Sadly days of people caring about their street/community seem to be vanishing on the Rock. People will sell to anyone that meets their (often inflated) price not caring what happens to the area after they leave.

Real estate lobby has threatened to sue and or drag in feds over down zoning because it supposedly hinders "affordable housing" and or is also discriminatory. They point to fact large parts of SI are mostly white or whatever because things are mostly all single or two family homes.

Truth to tell fix was in when that GD VNB was built; that was time to down zone/restrict large parts of SI. But developers rushed in with duplexes and some townhouses claiming that is what market wanted.

Again with the same video because it speaks truth:

Mind you some of the duplex new housing/developments built in 1960's or early 1970's are streets better than the garbage developers are putting up on SI today. It's a sin they want serious money for what basically amounts to an apartment (part of a four or two family townhouse), with no driveway, no back yard for the kids, nothing. Maybe you get parking, but that either takes up what should be a yard, or the ground level of "house" as it is carved out of first floor.
