Not as big as the Brooklyn store, maybe one third the size, but still quite large at 115000 square feet

Why are some big box stores OK and some aren't?

What about all the mom and pop furniture stores?

Won't someone think of the children!?!?

It sort of depends on the person and industry, doesn't it?

IKEA stuff is so overpriced compare to what is on Amazon. I don't even have to go haul the stuff and fight the crowd at IKEA. The designs that IKEA brings every year looks worse each year. The last well designed item was the IKEA bike and they recalled it.

I got an IKEA foam mattress and an office chair. Mattress $300 and chair $50. I think it's good value and I'm happy with both items.

I'm surprised the "keep my neighborhood a slum so I can still afford to live here" group Queens Neighborhoods United did not protest. Maybe it was kept secret til the last minute just for that very reason, after how that group tried (without success) to shut down the mini Target coming to Jackson Heights/Elmhurst on 82nd south of Roosevelt.

Rego Park is a wealthier neighborhood than Jackson Heights/Elmhurst and that mall it’s going into is already filled with national chains as are the shopping centers near it. Someone who lived in neighborhood once took me out there to her favorite local bar and it was Miller’s Ale House which is a Florida based chain. It was fun though the food was just shy of mediocre, but I did think it was interesting that it was the local watering hole.

As long as they have their cafeteria and serving them meatballs, I am there always.

IKEA only sells there own stuff, and its usually not too durable. Other stores can compete in style, and price. They should still be fine.

There is a DeRucci Furniture not too far from there too.

Have you taste the food at Ikea? If you do, you will not call it mall food. Is of higher quality than mall food.
