Given the introduction of cameras monitoring speed on roads and I can see shortly on highway will you change the type of car you will get ? I like 6 cylinders that can accelerate quickly after having 4 cylinders with low horsepower most of my life. But if the goal is to actually do 25 and soon to do 50 on the highway, why bother ? Anyone thinking that what's the point in getting turbo 4's, 6 cylinders or even 8 in the City and tri state?

You don’t have to drive fast in a fast car. I mean I guess I’d consider what you are suggesting if I only drove in the city, but I very regularly drive in less authoritative locales that respect the Constitutional right to face your accuser.

I anticipate the inevitable. If a municipality can draw revenue with tickets they will. Once one township or borough, county, City does, successfully and other will. Cameras are cheaper then having officers on the highway risking speed chases and pulling over speeders. So an investment in cameras will make it cost effective. So having a 8 cylinder BMW roadster that goes 90 without barely a hard acceleration seems less desirable. You could amass multiple speeding tickets on one trip. A Honda Accord with 1.5 suddenly seems more desirable then a Acord with a 2.0. A Jeep Cherokee with the base engine suddenly is preferable then a Jeep Cherokee turbo. And it's perfectly legal for the state to send the registered driver a ticket unless the car was reported stolen.

Driving a Jaguar or a Ferrari 50 in the fast lane is a future reality for many people soon. So why not do 50 in a Hyundai. Man speed cameras are going to change things for high performance cars. If speeds driven come down with cameras might as well get smaller sedans then larger vehicles as well.

Some of the vehicles you describe are dangerously slow. My wife’s Renegade for example is scary to drive on the highway. It has so little oomph that changing lanes becomes a risky endeavor. Furthermore, that power that some vehicles have is also useful in towing or carrying loads. I never saw the efficacy of driving a top sports machine as a daily driver, I agree with you there, but there are reasons not to go ultra-slow.

Yes but in the future if everyone is going slow that changes the whole dynamic. When my lease ends I might just buy a used Accord with base engine or a Malibu.

In fact speed cameras might actually lead to emission standards being met, and the proliferation of more efficient cars. And driver less cars since much of the joy of waking up the horses will disapear. Why have a Hell Cat in the near future. Either cars will be big roomy comfort vehicles, strong towing trucks, or small efficient sedans.
